Lake Tsivlou Hiking | Easy Guided Hike on Mount Helmos

On Sunday, September 13, 2026, join us for a memorable hiking experience to Lake Tsivlou, nestled on the lush slopes of Mount Helmos in Achaia. We'll hike through dense forests, follow the Krathis River and reach the crystal-clear waters of one of Greece's most beautiful natural lakes.

An easy hiking adventure combining forest trails, rivers, a mountain lake, swimming and optional kayaking.

Our route begins in the mountain village of Peristera, at approximately 1,060 meters above sea level, following a pleasant downhill trail through pine, fir, plane and chestnut forests.

Along the way we'll walk beside the Krathis River, surrounded by lush vegetation, fresh mountain air and the peaceful sounds of flowing water.

The trail continues through shaded woodland with beautiful views over the green slopes of Mount Helmos. The hike is easy, featuring gentle inclines and a total distance of approximately 8 km.

Upon reaching Lake Tsivlou, we'll enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake, free time for relaxing, taking photos, swimming and optional kayaking.

One of Europe's youngest natural lakes, surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.

Lake Tsivlou was formed in 1913 after a major landslide blocked the course of the Krathis River. Today it is considered one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Achaia, attracting hikers, photographers and nature lovers throughout the year.

The lake's turquoise waters, surrounded by dense forest and the impressive landscape of Mount Helmos, create a truly peaceful setting.

During our stay at the lake you'll have plenty of free time for swimming in its crystal-clear waters, relaxing and taking photographs.

Participants may also choose to enjoy an optional 30-minute kayaking experience. If you wish to participate, please mention it in the comments section during registration.

After the hike we'll visit "Paradisos" Traditional Tavern, located near Lake Tsivlou, where there will be free time for lunch before returning to Athens.
