Hiking from Agoriani to Polydrosos on Mount Parnassos

On Sunday, 25 October 2026, we invite you to join us for an autumn hike on Mount Parnassos, from Agoriani (Eptalofos) to Polydrosos (Souvala), following one of the most beautiful sections of the National Trail O22. The route crosses an autumn fir forest and ends at the Agia Eleousa springs, where the waters of the Boeotian Kifisos River emerge.

🔶 What You Will Experience

A hiking route that begins in a mountain village, crosses the northern slopes of Mount Parnassos and ends beside plane trees and flowing spring water.

The stone-paved streets of Agoriani soon give way to old trails, dense woodland and natural clearings. As we descend, the landscape gradually opens, revealing views of Polydrosos and the surrounding mountain peaks.

🔶 From Agoriani to Polydrosos

We follow the old route that once connected Agoriani with Polydrosos, along a section of the National Trail O22.

Our hike begins in the main square of Agoriani. After passing the Church of Agioi Anargyroi and its large multi-spout fountain, we reach the beginning of the trail.

Beyond the large Agoriani chasm, we walk through old fields and natural clearings before entering the dense fir forest. The woodland trail alternates between soft earth and rockier sections, keeping the scenery varied throughout the route.

Along the way, we pass the old Avgeris well and continue towards the Portes clearing, where the Kousoulas well is located. The forest gradually opens, revealing views towards Polydrosos.

The route passes close to the junction leading towards the Drakokarkaros chasm and continues to the stone terrace of an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Kifisos, the river god.

The hike ends at the Agia Eleousa springs, a green setting filled with plane trees and flowing water. Beside the springs stand the ruins of Palaiopanagia, also known as Panagia Mavromantila, adding another historical element to the route.
