Hiking in Dionysos – Northern Penteli & Open-Air Quarry Museum

On Saturday, December 6, join us for a scenic circular hike in Dionysos, Northern Penteli, with a visit to the Open-Air Quarry Museum and stops at the chapels of Agios Loukas and Agios Nikitas.

🔶 A Circular Green Route in Northern Penteli

This hike takes us through Dionysos and the open-air Quarry Museum, following a lush green path surrounded by forest and history.

🔶 History of the Quarry

The quarries operated continuously for about 40 years, starting in 1899. A long-time contractor, Aloulas, gave his name to the entire area. In the 1940s, the quarries closed, and since 1994 the site has been transformed into an open-air museum of quarry art.

🔶 The Route & Highlights

• Start from Dionysos and ascend towards the Open-Air Quarry Museum
• Continue to the chapels of Agios Loukas and Agios Nikitas
• Return via the southern side of the museum, heading towards Solinari Spring and Dionysos
