Kithaironas – Spring Hiking & Mountaineering Experience | Wanderlust Peaks Project
On Sunday, 15 March we invite you to a spring hiking and mountaineering experience on Mount Kithaironas, following a beautiful route through fir forest and open ridgelines with panoramic views.
🔶 What You Will Experience
A complete hiking and mountaineering experience on Mount Kithaironas, with landscape changes from dense fir forest to open ridgelines and wide panoramic scenery. From the middle part of the route and up to Elatia summit, the trail becomes rockier, requiring confidence on mountain terrain. Although the season is spring, due to altitude and weather instability there is still a possibility of snow cover; in that case the difficulty increases significantly and extra caution is required.
The route starts from the Vangelis Tsakos Mountain Shelter and follows Trail 22 through a dense fir forest, with a steady ascent and clear markings. As we gain altitude, the landscape gradually opens up, revealing impressive views of the surrounding area, before the trail becomes more rugged and mountainous as we approach the ridgeline.

- Hiking through dense vegetation and a beautiful forest trail
- Opening into a mountain plateau with outstanding views
- Fresh mountain air and a spring atmosphere
- Striking natural formations and old-growth trees
- Photogenic spots throughout the route
🔶 Route Highlights
Along the ascent, we reach a natural viewpoint overlooking the Plataies plain. At the saddle, panoramic views open towards the Gulf of Corinth, Porto Germeno, Psatha and the Geraneia mountains. The final section follows rockier terrain up to the ridgeline and Elatia Summit (1,409 m), the highest point of Mount Kithaironas.

- Dense fir forest with a well-formed trail
- Elevation changes with excellent views over the plain
- Impressive trees and natural rock formations
- An open plateau that reveals the power of Kithaironas
- Ridgeline scenery with strong photographic interest

The maximum number of participants for this activity is 35 people, to ensure smooth group flow, quality guidance and overall safety.
